I’m not really into books. In fact in high school, I only read literatures that were required by the teacher. Nor do I like the “reading comprehension” part of the exam. Reading, in general, simply does not interest me. But I dare not live a day without reading at least a line from this book of books (66 books to be exact) – the Bible. It’s the world’s best seller, but definitely not the best read.
I read the Bible because it’s very interesting, on the contrary to the famed notion of the Bible being boring. It talks of the spiritual world, which includes the angels, the cherubim, and the evil spirits, about giants, the man who lived for 969 years, a man having 24 fingers, a man with a thousand wives and concubines, the donkey who talked to Balaam, and a lot more. Moreover, the Revelations tells about a battle against the dreaded dragon and how the world is going to end as the seven seals in heaven are opened by the angels, one at a time. The Bible is greater than any novel, epic. It’s greater than any piece of literature. It’s the best.
I read the Bible because it’s scientific and authentic. It is an ancient book, having been written thousands of years ago. However, several facts and scientific concepts have already been written in the Bible even before the scientists have discovered them – making the Bible the most advanced ancient book of all time.
There had been an early misconception that the earth is flat. But even before Portuguese voyagers have discovered that the earth is round, that fact was already written in the Bible (specifically in Isaiah 40:22).
Did you know that the water cycle is written in the Bible? It is in the first chapter of Ecclesiastes. And even health related issued can be found in the Bible. The phrase “laughter is the best medicine” is not only medically proven, but also, biblically proven (Proverbs 17:22).
You’ll just be amazed with the facts that you may stumble upon reading the Bible.
It is a fact that things get broken when the user did not carefully read or did not even care to read the manual of instructions. Well, I read the Bible because it’s my manual of instructions. Basically, it’s a master list of do’s and don’ts, of what’s right and wrong. It’s my consultant.
I read the Bible because it contains the Truth. Without doubt, I do believe that these books were written not by mere human intelligence but by divine intervention. Its authenticity is and can be proven. According to John, “the truth will set you free” and it really will. Words can not explain how this Truth has proven itself to me. The words from this book, has touched the inner person in me. It’s a mysterious moment every time I read the Bible and my soul listens.
I read the Bible because it tells of the greatest promise ever told – the promise of Salvation. This promise is what drives me to walk, to move, to breathe.
It’s true, I really never liked reading books, and other literatures as such. But why, then, do I really read the Bible? I read the Bible because I consider it not as a book but a love letter from God. Every verse, every word offers a realization of His love – realizing that everything He wants you to be is for you to be perfect.
I read the Bible not because of the 1 693 pages nor the 31 101 verses. I read the Bible because of that magical power beyond the 773 692 words – the power of Love from the Eternal Father. Truly, the Bible is not just the most advanced ancient book of all time, but also the greatest love letter ever written.
